The Opening Education Event, held on October 17, 2011 at Simon Fraser University Woodward’s Campus, focused on how practices of Open Access research, publishing, and open educational resource (OER) course content have emerged as complementary and creative alternatives to traditional copyright practices. It was an exploration into the use of digital open licenses for sharing and reuse in a way that is pre-authorized and encouraged by others.
