BCcampus is looking for an experienced, skilled, and energetic individual to join us as our Project Manager, Mental Health and Substance Use Peer Supports, Collaborative Projects to lead the collaborative development and co-creation, implementation, and publication of resources with regard to peer supports, related to the Province’s strategies in the areas of mental health and substance use. This position will manage this project and work with the Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions up to March 2021.

The position reports to the Director at BCcampus and works with other BCcampus staff, community agencies, as well as with representatives of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training and the Ministry of Mental Health & Addictions.

Position Outcomes:

  • Engage and facilitate cross-sector stakeholder groups from provincial government ministries and agencies, post-secondary institutions, health authorities, and community organizations as a neutral convener
  • Work directly with individuals with lived experience in the development of resources
  • Lead the collaborative development and delivery of co-creation projects that meet system needs, government priorities, and fit within the BCcampus mandate
  • Ensure completion of project deliverables that meet the defined vision and/or strategy while navigating complex issues and competing priorities
  • Prepare reports and other information for the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training, the Ministry of Mental Health & Addictions, and other audiences that document the work of the BCcampus Collaborative Projects team
  • Develop, plan, execute, and complete multiple projects simultaneously in a complex, multi-institutional, post-secondary environment
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, agencies, institutional administrators, and Ministry staff
  • Lead teams of skilled professionals and geographically distributed stakeholder groups
  • Lead and practice ways of knowing and being in an inclusive environment
  • Share knowledge openly
  • Establish strong, positive, and productive relationships
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive, and strong team culture at BCcampus

Education and subject matter expertise:

  • Master’s degree in business, public administration, health sciences, social sciences, or related field
  • Five years’ experience with project management, collaborative leadership, and facilitation
  • Deep knowledge of and experience with the appropriate application of project management skills
  • Experience leading collaborative initiatives and consensus building with diverse and complex stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrated experience with community agencies in the field of mental health
  • Recent experience working with marginalized populations
  • Prefer knowledge of emerging trends in teaching and learning

Competencies:

  • Work effectively in the mental health field in B.C., specifically with demonstrated knowledge of mental health and substance use system of care in B.C.
  • Work collaboratively with government, post-secondary institutions, and people with lived experience
  • Work well under pressure, effectively meet deadlines, and build consensus through a team-based approach
  • Be mindful, respectful, energetic, and resourceful

This is a full-time, multi-year contract term. We encourage secondments from the public sector (post-secondary institutions, agencies, government) as well as applicants from diverse backgrounds who can bring their lived experience to our team.

  • Preference may be given to applicants who have experience working on projects related to mental health and problematic substance use, health care, health promotion, public health and/or other social service policies, programs, or initiatives.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who self-identify as having an Indigenous heritage.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience working with Indigenous organizations and communities.
