Background

During the winter and spring of 2020–2021, the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training, working with sector stakeholders and partners, developed a Micro-credential Framework for B.C to support a coordinated and consistent approach to the development and delivery of micro-credentials across B.C.’s public post-secondary system. As this work took place, it was recognized that some components of the framework required additional research. Consequently, research took place in the winter of 2021–2022.

As a result of this work, it was identified that additional resources and professional development about the design, delivery, and implementation of micro-credentials in the B.C. context would be useful to the province’s post-secondary sector. The Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training and BCcampus have identified two initiatives to meet this need:

  • Providing a Micro-credential Toolkit for B.C. Post Secondary Institutions, which will be an adaptation of eCampusOntario’s Open Micro-credential Toolkit
  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive one-day online workshop focused on competencies and Micro-credentials to be held in Winter 2023

This expression of interest is to identify qualified individuals to advise on both initiatives. The expected frequency of meetings is once per month beginning in November and continuing until February 2023. Both written and verbal feedback are valued, so consultation might be in either meeting or written format. The agenda for each meeting will be sent beforehand.
