OER Forum in Vancouver, October 18, 2012

BCcampus is hosting a working session on Open Educational Resources (OER) for senior post-secondary institution representatives in Vancouver on the afternoon of October 18, 2012. The objectives of the session are to develop a common understanding of what OER could mean for BC and build a shared vision of how to develop and use them.  The session will also consider ways BC can take advantage of the promise of open educational resources and open textbooks. The session coincides with the international OpenEd 2012 conference being held at UBC Robson Square from October 16-18, 2012.

The OER Forum will take place at BCIT downtown and will be facilitated by Paul Stacey, Creative Commons. Leaders and innovators  in OER will speak including  David Wiley, Brigham Young University; Cable Green, Creative Commons; Alan Davis, Kwantlen Polytechnic University; and Brian Lamb, Thompson Rivers University. Giulia Forsythe, Brock University, will create visual notes for the session.  Attendance at the OER Forum is by invitation. The session will be recorded and the plans are in the works for it to be webcast live. Updates will be posted via Twitter: @bccampus using the hashtag #oerforum12
