Asking the right questions

BCcampus values and supports evidence-based teaching, learning, educational technology, and open educational practices in a variety of ways. Our research goals are focussed on student learning and include:

  1. Identify effective pedagogies and advance their use in B.C. post-secondary
  2. Establish data to support the use of Open Education to improve access and success in student education
  3. Identify educational technologies and implementation strategies that support student learning and success
  4. Encourage educators to take informed pedagogical risks in their teaching

In addition, through our research activities we hope to:

  • Share tools, surveys, consent forms, and other resources to help others do research in and on effective teaching, learning, educational technology, and open educational practices
  • Connect researchers in B.C. and research activities beyond our provincial borders
  • Celebrate and amplify the work and findings of B.C. educational researchers

Currently, we support research through events and programs such as:

  • Symposium on Scholarly Teaching and Learning in Post-Secondary Education – an annual event bringing together educators and researchers with an interest in scholarly teaching and learning and SoTL (Scholarship of Teaching and Learning)
  • Educational Technology Fellows – grants for educators seeking to experiment with educational technologies to support learning
  • Scholarly Teaching Fellows – grants for educators seeking to conduct scholarly inquiry projects and investigate solutions to pedagogical challenges in their courses through a specific intervention
  • Open Faculty Fellows – grants for faculty seeking to adopt open educational practices in their courses
