We are very happy to announce the release of two new open textbooks, both with significant contributions from post-secondary faculty in British Columbia.
|Introductory Chemistry-1st Canadian Edition is a Canadian adaptation of the previously released Introductory Chemistry textbook. The book was adapted by Jessie A. Key of Vancouver Island University. Adaptations include sections and content on Kinetic Molecular Theory, Molecular Effusion and Diffusion, Real Gases, Periodic trends such as shielding and Z-effective, Atomic orbital energy diagrams, Molecular Orbitals, Current IUPAC nomenclature, Factors that affect the rate of reactions, Reaction rates, Rate Laws, Temperature and Rate, Reaction Mechanisms, and Catalysts. A glossary and further appendices were added. A new chapter on Chemical Thermodynamics was added. This book is released with a CC-BY-NC-SA open license, with the exception of the new chapter and additions made, that are licensed with a CC-BY open license.|
|Principles of Social Psychology-1st International Edition is an of the previously released Principles of Social Psychology textbook. The book was adapted by Rajiv Jhangiani of Kwantlen Polytechnic University and Dr. Hammond Tarry of Capilano University Adaptations include new research and ttheoretical developments, update of chapter opening anecdotes and real world examples, changing examples, references, and statistics to reflect a more international context, addition of overviews of some concepts, theories, and key studies not included in the original edition, list of learning objectives at the start of each chapter, and glossary of key terms. This book is released with a CC-BY-NC-SA open license, with the exception of the additions made, that are licensed with a CC-BY open license.|
