We are very happy to announce the release of a new open textbook, with significant contributions from post-secondary faculty in British Columbia.
Introduction to Sociology-1st Canadian Edition adheres to the scope and sequence of a typical introductory sociology course. In addition to comprehensive coverage of core concepts, foundational scholars, and emerging theories, incorporated are section reviews with engaging questions, discussions that help students apply the sociological imagination, and features that draw learners into the discipline in meaningful ways. The text is organized so that topics are introduced conceptually, with relevant, everyday experiences. For the student, this book is based on the teaching and research experience of numerous sociologists. In today’s global socially networked world, the topic of sociology is more relevant than ever before. This 1st Canadian Edition is an adaptation (by Dr. William Little with contributions from Ron McGivern) of Introduction to Sociology (an OpenStax College textbook). It includes Canadian specific content, images and references, and new material on the feminist perspective. This book is release with a CC-BY open license. |
