The goals and priorities for BCcampus are established by the BC Ministry of Advanced Education in collaboration with BCcampus staff. These goals are based on our interactions with and feedback from the B.C. post-secondary sector, the three post-secondary sector councils (BC Colleges, BC Association of Institutes and Universities and the Research University’s Council of BC), the BC Teaching and Learning Council (BCTLC), and the Stewardship Committee for the Educational Technology Users Group (SCETUG), and emergent industry trends.
In addition to these channels, BCcampus is establishing our own advisory group to inform our work. We want to better ensure the alignment with institutional needs and those of the system as a whole. The role of this group will be to provide feedback and suggestions that help us accomplish that.
This group will be comprised of no more than 12 individuals. The following are the requirements of membership:
- Must work in B.C. post-secondary institution in a role that interacts with BCcampus in some way (i.e. attend events, participate in projects, etc.).
- Must have a working knowledge of other ways in which BCcampus interacts with your institution (i.e. you know us from the BC Open Textbook Project, but some of your faculty attend ETUG, another staff member is part of the BCTLC, etc.).
- Must not be otherwise represented through membership on one of our other advisory committees. (i.e. SCETUG, BCTLC, BC Colleges, BCAIU or RUCBC). ETUG membership is acceptable.
- Must be willing and available to attend meetings (virtually or in-person) twice annually and provide feedback on planning and activities.
It is our aim to establish a committee that is representative of B.C.’s geography, institution types, roles and responsibilities in the post-secondary sector as well as gender balance. We are also seeking representatives who bring an Indigenous worldview and voice to the advisory table
The committee will be co-chaired by a member, nominated and elected by the membership, and the BCcampus Executive Director.
Terms will be 2 years with an option to extend for another 2.
If you would like to participate in this advisory group, please use the form to nominate yourself, tell us why you would like to work with us, and provide the name of a reference from your institution.
Nominations will be open between Dec. 5, 2016 – Jan. 20, 2017.
Everyone who nominates themselves will be notified of the results by Feb. 1, 2017.
