Introducing the Shared Educational Resources and Technology Advisory Committee

Post by Josie Gray, project manager for the Shared Educational Resources and Technology Advisory Committee, BCcampus

On April 10, the Shared Educational Resources and Technology (SERT) Advisory Committee had its first meeting. The SERT Advisory Committee will guide the B.C. post-secondary system on shared and open models for developing, delivering, and sustaining educational technologies and curriculum and course materials. This initiative is funded by the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills as part of the implementation of the British Columbia Post-Secondary Digital Learning Strategy

The SERT Advisory Committee is comprised of people with expertise in a range of areas, including people who have experience supporting system-wide collaboration, open licenses, educational technologies, and educational resources. It will advise BCcampus and the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills on the following initiatives:

  • Funding and supporting projects using system-wide collaboration to develop, deliver, and sustain shared or open educational technologies, curriculum, and course materials, focusing on establishing long-term sustainability.
  • Soliciting and publishing case studies from existing projects, organizations, and business with established sustainability models.
  • Preparing guiding documents outlining recommendations, models, and frameworks for developing, delivering, and sustaining shared or open educational technologies, curriculum, and course materials.

This work aligns with BCcampus’ mandate to drive innovation in teaching, learning, and open education through projects, professional development, and open resources, in collaboration with the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills and system partners.

BCcampus is looking forward to working collaboratively with the SERT Advisory Committee. If you have any questions about the SERT initiative, please reach out to the project manager, Josie Gray (jgray@bccampus.ca).
