BCcampus cares about encouraging access and removing barriers to professional development for educators who want to be more effective, engaging, and inclusive online. We have developed a family of courses designed to expand and enhance online facilitation skills. Facilitating learning online (FLO) courses offer engaging learning experiences that explore approaches and solutions to becoming an effective online instructor. FLO courses are grounded in research about teaching and learning online and are designed by experienced learning designers and educators.
Since January 2018 we have developed and offered several FLO MicroCourses, intensive one-week courses focused on high-interest, useful topics. In 2020 we launched FLO Fridays, one-hour facilitated online synchronous sessions.
BCcampus invites expressions of interest from post-secondary educators in B.C. to develop and deliver new FLO MicroCourses and FLO Friday sessions for the period of July 2021 to March 2022.
We are seeking subject matter expertise in the following focus areas:
- Hybrid or HyFlex learning
- Universal Design for Learning
- Decolonizing practices
- Authentic and alternative assessment practices; e.g., peer and self-assessment, alternatives to online final exams
- Anti-racism
- Digital literacy, digital fluency
- Open educational practices
- Mental health
The contract for one FLO MicroCourse is $2000 plus applicable taxes for course development, pilot delivery, and sharing of the MicroCourse as an open educational resource. The contract for designing and facilitating a FLO Friday session is $300 plus applicable taxes.
Please submit your expression of interest letter and MicroCourse or FLO Friday session outline (maximum two pages) to hprins@bccampus.ca before Friday, April 30, 2021. Please include learning outcomes, the approximate required student participation time, activities and assignments to be completed, and synchronous sessions if applicable.
