BCcampus is seeking expressions of interest from members of the B.C. post-secondary community to join Cohort 2 of the Digital Literacy Resource Evaluation Working Group. The purpose of the group is to help review and select high-quality, openly licensed materials for inclusion in an online repository that supports digital literacy in B.C. post-secondary institutions.
In partnership with the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills and the Digital Learning Advisory Committee, BCcampus is developing a collection of high-quality, openly licensed courses and resources that support digital literacy knowledge, skills, and abilities in the eight competencies identified in the ministry’s Post-Secondary Digital Learning Strategy:
- Ethical and legal considerations: Understand and abide by principles of privacy protection, inclusion, and accessibility in digital spaces.
- Technology supports: Explore new technologies, and select appropriate tools for different tasks.
- Information literacy: Understand how online information is produced, prioritized, and presented.
- Digital scholarship: Use digital technologies for learning, research, and decision-making.
- Communication and collaboration: Use online tools to make valuable contributions in digital spaces.
- Creation and curation: Create multimedia products that reach different audiences and share stories.
- Digital well-being: Create healthy boundaries with technology, and use digital tools to maintain well-being.
- Community-based learning: Communicate and collaborate meaningfully with digital communities.
Content for review by Cohort 2 will be in the form of textbooks, courses or course materials, websites, videos, infographics, podcasts, book chapters, journal articles, tools, or tutorials.
The terms of reference for the working group outline the purpose and anticipated scope of work. Resource evaluators will receive an honourarium of CAD$500.
Ideal candidates will have experience evaluating subject-specific resources, expertise in one or more of the eight competencies, and interest in learning about accessibility and inclusivity as they relate to digital literacy.
If you would like to contribute your knowledge and enthusiasm to this important initiative and make connections with educators in the B.C. post-secondary sector, we would love to hear from you. Depending on the number of responses we receive, there may be a selection process.
