BCcampus is offering two scholarships ($500 USD value each) for the January 2025 (January 27–April 6, 2025) session of the Creative Commons certificate course to faculty, librarians, staff, or graduate students from B.C. and Yukon post-secondary institutions. 

Creative Commons (CC) is an international non-profit organization that empowers people to grow and sustain the thriving commons of shared knowledge and culture needed to address the world’s most pressing challenges. Its CC Certificate program offers in-depth courses about CC licenses, open practices, and the ethos of the commons.

Proposal Evaluation Criteria 

  1. Interest in taking the CC certificate course: Describe why you want to take the CC certificate course and how you might use the skills and information gained from this training toward your current work. 
  1. Impact of taking the CC certificate course: Describe how you might apply the training you gain from this course in such a way that will impact open educational practices and support for others (faculty, students, staff) at your institution. 
  1. Reason for applying for scholarship: Describe why are you applying for this scholarship and how receiving these funds will affect open education at your institution. 

Process

  1. Please download and complete the CC scholarship application and email as an attachment to open@bccampus.ca by December 6, 2024 (midnight Pacific Time). Receipt of all submissions will be confirmed by an email reply. 
  1. BCcampus will connect with successful applicants once they have been accepted to the program. 
  1. Successful applicants should contact their supervisor about securing adequate time to complete the course if they plan to work on it during work hours. 
  1. Successful applicants should register for the course of their choice using the CC certificate 15% discount
  1. BCcampus will reimburse successful applicants for the cost of the course once the applicant has finished the course and forwarded to BCcampus their certificate of course completion. 

Applicants must work or be a graduate student at a B.C. or Yukon public or private post-secondary institution.
