Our work to create mental health and wellness education and training resources is supported by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training and led by BCcampus and an advisory group of students, staff, and faculty from B.C. post-secondary institutions.
We have developed two projects related to mental health in the B.C. post-secondary system:
- Mental Health and Wellness — Staff and Faculty Training better enables faculty and staff to support post-secondary students with their mental health and wellness.
- Mental Health and Wellness – Education and Training for Students better enables students to support their mental health and wellness during their post-secondary studies.
These projects support the Ministry’s work with post-secondary institutions on several mental health and wellness initiatives as part of a government-wide approach to improve mental health and substance use services for British Columbians.
The environmental scans revealed a gap in the system for training resources that promote mental health literacy, build foundational knowledge, include Indigenous pedagogy and knowledges, and take into account the international student population. BCcampus is working with authors, instructional designers, Indigenous advisors, and Pressbooks to adapt existing training resources for these two projects.
