This Expression of Interest (EOI) is intended to determine interest and availability to develop openly licensed content for the BCcampus Collaborative Project – The Indigenization Project.
BCcampus supports the post-secondary institutions of British Columbia in enabling more access to powerful learning opportunities for students. Within BCcampus, the Collaborative Projects team works with leaders and innovators across multiple sectors to create impactful, student-centred learning experiences and resources through evidence-based pedagogy, strategic engagements, and iterative designs.
BCcampus is requesting expressions of interest from post-secondary staff and faculty within British Columbia and the Yukon to develop open professional learning resources (OPLRs) that contribute to an increased awareness and understanding of Aboriginal histories, cultures, perspectives, and ways of knowing for those who work in post-secondary institutions.
The resources will consist of five openly licensed modules (including audio, video, online content and text) that targets specific learner audiences across post-secondary:
- Curriculum / educational developers;
- Academic leaders and administrators;
- Front-line staff / student services / advisors;
- Researchers; and
- Educators / teachers / instructors.
Each resource will build upon a foundational module of common history and knowledge, meet learning outcomes developed by the project steering committee, and provide guidelines and promising practices for Indigenizing the institution. The resources must be completed by early December 2017 and will be shared through an open resource repository site (SOL*R).
Interested parties are invited to respond to this EOI by submitting a letter to BCcampus that includes:
- Extent of interest in supporting resource development (from creating an entire module to developing learning objects for an audience);
- Ability to commit to creating and amending content in the fall of 2017 (September-November);
- Prior experience creating and augmenting open educational resources; and
- Willingness to collaborate and co-create resources across institutions.
To apply, please submit your expression of interest to Dianne Biin, Project Manager via email to Indigenization@bccampus.ca or dbiin@bccampus.ca before Thursday, August 17, 2017, and be sure to quote “EOI for Indigenization Project” in the subject line of the message.
