Post-secondary directory provides new open education reference for B.C.

BCcampus Open Education has just published the Post-Secondary Directory, the second in this reference series. This directory focuses on colleges, institutes, and universities in British Columbia and the way each: provides support for its community; uses, creates, and evaluates open educational resources; and engages in open education on campus through events, a working group, and student involvement. In time, the Post-Secondary Directory will include similar information regarding post-secondary institutions and projects in the rest of Canada. In the meantime, an overview of Canada’s national open education initiatives can be found in the appendix.

Regardless of open education participation, the intention and design behind this directory are to provide a means of sharing ideas and practices. A standard template lays out each institution’s resources and practices so that both the individual searching for assistance at their home institution and their colleagues at other colleges and universities can easily locate institution-specific, open education information.

The annotation tool, Hypothes.is, has been enabled for the Post-Secondary Directory and will remain active for several months so that B.C. post-secondary open education support teams can add comments about their entries.

Updated and new information for this directory can be sent to Lauri Aesoph, Manager of Open Education, at laesoph@bccampus.ca.
