Welcome to our newest Open Education members

We’ve searched high and low to find the newest members of the Open Education team, and we are pleased to welcome the following Open Education superstars:

Tim Carson, Trades Open Education Representative

Tim joins BCcampus on secondment from BCIT, where he is the chief instructor for the pipe trades. Tim will lead the planning, development, and implementation of an entire suite of freely available resources—including textbooks, test banks, and homework assignments—to replace costly commercial educational resources in trades education programs.

“What I’m most excited about with this new role is that I have the opportunity and privilege to facilitate a movement within vocational trades training that will have a dynamic impact upon trades apprentices within the province. This not only reduces the economic burden on our apprentices but will also have a positive educational and pedagogical impact upon and through our many dedicated vocational instructors.”  -Tim Carson, RSE, MA

Clint Lalonde, Project Manager for Open Source Homework Systems

Clint returns to the Open Education team as the lead project manager for the Open Homework Systems project. Clint will lead the planning and implementation of multiple open homework systems to suit the needs of B.C. post-secondary institutions.

“I am very happy to be back working in the Open Education team at BCcampus. I was heavily involved in the early days of the BC Open Textbook Project, primarily in evaluating different publishing platforms, setting up the initial Pressbooks publishing platform for BCcampus, and architecting the original Open Textbook Repository. This new position sees me returning to the two things I love most in education: open education, and the technology needed to support open educational practices. It also gives us another opportunity to lower the significant barrier of cost for all post-secondary students.”  Clint Lalonde, MA

Krista Lambert, Project Manager for ABE/Health Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) Programs and Environmental Scan for Early Childhood Education

Krista joins BCcampus on secondment from the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC), where she is an instructional designer. Krista will lead the planning, development, and implementation of an entire suite of freely available resources—including textbooks, test banks, and homework assignments—to replace costly commercial educational resources in Adult Basic Education and health programs. In addition, Krista will conduct a thorough environmental scan on existing open educational resources (OER) for early childhood education.

“I’m looking forward to being back at BCcampus to help advance open education in the health and early childhood education subject areas. I’m looking forward to collaborating with and engaging educators in these programs and supporting the development of ZTC programs in B.C.” – Krista Lambert, M.Ed.
