February Focus: Supporting Neurodiversity in Post-Secondary Education

As post-secondary institutions continue to reflect on equity, accessibility, and inclusion, a focus on neurodiversity helps deepen our understanding of how learning environments can better support diverse ways of thinking and learning. Following the strong interest and engagement in the February 2025 BCcampus Neurodiversity Series, we’re pleased to continue offering professional development focused on neurodiversity.

On February 5, we will kick off the month with a practical workshop exploring the intersections of Artificial Intelligence, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and neurodiversity in educational environments. We continue with a two-part workshop on Supporting Neurodivergent Wellness in Higher Education, focusing first on educators’ wellbeing, and then on students’ wellbeing. We wrap up the month with a workshop on national research findings on the barriers neurodivergent learners face when moving from post-secondary education into the workforce. Drawing on the lived experiences of neurodivergent students, as well as insights from advisors, administrators, and faculty, the session will highlight the challenges neurodivergent learners encounter when preparing for employment.

This year, we’re introducing new offerings, including NeuroChats: Conversations Toward Inclusive Campuses, a seven-episode podcast series featuring neurodivergent educators and students from B.C. post-secondary institutions. Learning + Teaching Advisors, Helena Prins and Britt Dzioba, talk to six guests about their experiences navigating the post-secondary system as neurodivergent students, educators, and staff. Listeners will hear their stories, learn their strategies for success, and benefit from their reflections on building more neuro-inclusive classrooms and campuses. A new episode will be released every Tuesday morning, starting January 20,

Join us throughout the month for thoughtful conversations and research-informed insights supporting neuro-inclusive post-secondary education.
