Mental Health and Wellness Student Training Capacity-Building Grants for B.C. Post-Secondary Education
BCcampus is offering an $8000 capacity-building grant to support institutions with offering training to students on foundational mental health and wellness and suicide awareness and response.
We will have two resources available to support this effort in the coming months:
- Starting a Conversation About Mental Health: Foundational Training for Students (December 2021)
- Suicide Awareness and Response Training for Students (April 2022)
The training resources are part of a mental health and wellness project sponsored by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training and collaboratively guided by students, faculty, and staff in the B.C. post-secondary system.
Grant Expectation and Reporting
The expectation for this grant is that B.C. post-secondary institutions use the funds to support training for students in foundational mental health and wellness and suicide awareness and response.
If you already use foundational mental health and wellness and suicide awareness and response training for students at your institution, we invite you to use the grant funds to review the upcoming open resources and use aspects that best complement your existing training efforts in this area.
No formal reporting will be required, but BCcampus may follow up with grantees to highlight their use of grant funds in a future article.
BCcampus requests that public announcements related to the use of this funding be jointly formalized. To arrange for an opportunity to share the use of these funds publicly, please contact email@example.com.
If you have questions about this grant, please contact the project manager, Michelle Glubke, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The grant funds will be transferred to the institution directly via EFT or cheque from SFU (administrative host for BCcampus).
