At BCcampus, we believe in continually evolving. We’ve chosen to move away from a traditional annual review in favour of a more meaningful and story-driven account of our work, and we’re excited to release our very first Impact Report, highlighting our progress towards achieving the outcomes outlined in our Strategic Plan.
The Impact Report focuses not just on what we did, but why it mattered. It’s a more intentional look at how our work is making a difference in post-secondary education across the province. Together, the Impact Report and Strategic Plan tell a story of reflection, growth, and change. We invite you to explore them together and join us in celebrating what we’ve achieved, and in imagining what is possible.
Building Relationships and Communities
A core priority for BCcampus is fostering cross-institutional collaboration, and we‘ve continued to build meaningful connections across B.C. This past year, we proudly hosted an event featuring educator Jo Chrona, fostering important discussions on equity, diversity, and inclusion in post-secondary education.
The BCcampus Roadshow took us across the province, specifically to the College of New Caledonia in Prince George, and Northern Lights College in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, engaging directly with faculty, staff, and students on regional campuses. These visits provided opportunities for professional development, discussions on innovative teaching, digital learning, and open education. Overall, we learned valuable insights to better support institutions. The Roadshow reinforced our commitment to a more connected and responsive post-secondary system.
Our Project Management Office (PMO) played a vital role in supporting inter-institutional collaboration, resource sharing, and strategic funding initiatives. Through coordinated efforts, we’ve helped institutions expand capacity and deliver impactful projects that meet the evolving needs of B.C.’s post-secondary system.
Advancing Teaching and Learning Practices
Supporting educators with professional development opportunities remains a top priority. This year, we hosted a range of workshops and webinars, including sessions on digital pedagogy, inclusive teaching practices, and emerging educational technologies. The FLO (Facilitating Learning Online) program continues to thrive, equipping faculty members across B.C. with valuable skills in online instruction.
Additionally, we launched a series of blog posts and thought pieces from our Research Fellows, sharing insights on innovative teaching strategies. Over the past year, our work with the Shared Educational Resources and Technology (SERT) group has led to a project focused on identifying sustainable models for collaboration and resource sharing to strengthen learning and teaching across the province.
We hosted some major events including the Digital Learning Strategy Forum in partnership with the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills as well as the Digital Pedagogy Lab with Jesse Stommel and Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
The adoption and creation of open educational resources (OER) remains a major focus. We collaborated with post-secondary institutions to increase OER adoption, ensuring learning materials are more accessible and affordable for students. Additionally, we formalized a partnership with Creative Commons and contributed to a new OER Equity Framework to promote inclusive and sustainable practices.
Supporting Organizational Excellence
As a learning organization, BCcampus is committed to continuous improvement. Over the past year, we have strengthened internal processes, enhanced collaboration, and invested in professional development for our team to better serve the sector.
We’ve also improved our evaluation and feedback mechanisms for both online and in-person events, ensuring our services remain responsive and impactful. By prioritizing organizational excellence, we are positioning BCcampus to provide even greater value to the institutions and communities we support.
Looking Ahead
As we enter the second year of our strategic plan, we remain committed to fostering curiosity, collaboration, and accessibility in B.C.’s post-secondary sector. There’s still much to do, but we’re excited about the progress we’ve made and the opportunities ahead. We have many more opportunities to engage and learn planned for the next year— stay connected by subscribing to our newsletter for updates.
A heartfelt thank you to all those who have contributed to these initiatives. Your dedication and engagement ensure that BCcampus continues to serve and strengthen post-secondary education in B.C.
