Session Recording for Web Annotation in the Classroom and Beyond with Hypothesis
Hypothes.is, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving online discourse through annotation.
This free virtual EdTech Demo session explores web annotation as a core digital pedagogical practice for the 21st century classroom. The emergent technology of web annotation allows Internet users to privately comment on or publicly discuss any web page. It can be applied to teach students traditional literacy skills like close reading but also newer forms of digital and media literacy. Web annotation can also be leveraged in text mining and other more advanced digital projects.
In this session, Jeremy Dean, Director of Education at hypothes.is, will talk about the pedagogical value of web annotation and demonstrate the open-source, standards-based annotation client, Hypothes.is. You will leave this demo with a solid orientation in the basic functionality of web annotation as well as specific collaborative annotation exercises and projects that can be used in their classrooms.
