The EdMedia Protégé Program, delivered through the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) at Simon Fraser University (SFU), supports faculty who are interested in being better media creators. The program helps faculty embed media in learning through media assets developed by teaching faculty, utilizing media mentors, and focused on course outcomes/objectives. The program has been well received by faculty and, in its third (next) instance, will incorporate a blended delivery model.
Jason Toal is an Interaction Specialist at SFU’s Teaching and Learning Centre that mentors the Ed Media proteges on visual literacy, (graphic facilitation), and the distribution of content as OER’s (open education resources) using Creative Commons licensing and WordPress, Social Media and the open web. jasontoal.ca @draggin on twitter
Lisa O’Neill is the EdMedia Manager at SFU’s Teaching and Learning Centre. Lisa holds a master’s degree in Distributed Learning and has worked in the fields of design, technology, adult education, and corporate training for over 20 years. Lisa is a PhD candidate at the University of Calgary specializing in educational technology. Her doctoral research is focused on identifying the essential conditions that effectively embed educational media into the higher education learning experience.
