Open Access Week events! Two workshops, Thursday October 27, 2016, hosted by KPU. These workshops are free but registration is required.

Thursday October 27, 2016

Workshop 1:

10-11:30 am | Surrey Campus: The Good, the Bad and the Open: An Open Pedagogy Workshop with Jennifer Kirkey & Arthur Gill Green
Room: Library, Arbutus building, room A 2070 (second floor lab)

This workshop will demystify open pedagogy, by giving real world examples and by giving the participants the opportunity to walk away with a new open education toolkit. Jennifer and Gill will introduce the concept of open pedagogy and the open education movement. They will offer examples of open pedagogy projects, outline ongoing challenges to implementing these projects, and document best practices for developing new open pedagogy projects. Participants will be able to workshop their own open pedagogy projects through feedback from the presenters and their colleagues.

Workshop 2:

3-4:00 pm | Tech (Cloverdale) Campus:  OER Integration into Course Websites for Trades with Rod Lidstone
Room: Boardroom, room 1853

Participants will be engaged in ways to locate open education resources, and find out how to offer them to students through an online learning tool such as Moodle. Rod will lead a discussion on the pros and cons of OER adoptions and will leave participants with an example of a needs assessment for adoption of OERs.
Bring your ideas and questions! Engage with faculty members who use open textbooks, open pedagogy and open research practices.

These workshops are free but registration is required. Link to event information and registration here.
