April 4-Save the Date-Privacy Conference

Save this date to your calendar: April 4, 2011, BCIT Atrium, 8th Floor, 555 Seymour St., Vancouver

Keynote speaker: Ms Elizabeth Denham, Information and Privacy Commissioner, Province of British Columbia.

This conference is timely because the questions just keep coming: How much consent is enough? When students need to register with US-based open education tools to get access, can BC post-secondary institutions ask them to do so under our FIPPA legislation? Is there a repository of policies with regard to privacy and teaching and learning in BC? Where do privacy and freedom of information officers get training?

In a nutshell: what are the privacy implications for post-secondary institutions using cloud-based third-party services for teaching and learning?

In hopes of getting answers to some of the questions, BCcampus has set April 4, 2011 as the date for its conference talking about Privacy and Cloud-based Educational Technology.

Join us for a one-day session to clarify BC’s Privacy legislation and how it impacts the post-secondary sector, review some case studies and take away some valuable guidelines for use at your institution.

We have a conference web site: http://fippa.bccampus.ca. We hope you will join us.
