Enabling access, supporting education
BCcampus enables effective learning activities for the educators of B.C. while developing opportunities to improve the student experience. We do this through a variety of invitations and activities: special projects, programs, courses, events, research, resources, and communities to connect and learn together. By improving the array of invitations and modes (online, face to face, synchronous, asynchronous, individual, and group settings), focusing on theory and practice we enable access and support for post-secondary educators’ professional learning activities in B.C.
Coordinating, Collaborating, Facilitating
Our focus on impactful learning, the effective use of educational technologies, and open education practices for faculty, staff and administrators is apparent in our current strategic activities:
- Facilitating relevant, accessible, and flexible learning opportunities
- Collaborating with system partners to assess and incorporate emerging educational technologies
- Coordinating provincial expertise and resources to improve access and results
Connected communities
We work with many communities and groups to advance teaching, learning, and technology practices for the students, educators, and institutions of B.C. Through partnerships, sponsorship, and co-creation, we improve local learning communities.
Some of the Communities of Practice (CoP) and groups we support and engage with:
British Columbia Teaching & Learning Council – The BCTLC is a community of leaders from all 25 publicly-funded post-secondary institutions in B.C., working together to enhance teaching, learning, and the effective use of technology.
B.C. Educational Technology Users Group – ETUG is made up of educational technologists, instructional designers, media developers, researchers, faculty and instructors, and academic and technology administrators, all focused on improving learning and teaching with technology.
B.C. Open EdTech Collaborative – OpenETC members share a common goal of improving the open learning landscape by actively participating in the facilitation of openly licensed educational technology infrastructure for the B.C. post-secondary systems.
Liberating Structures User Groups – The Vancouver and Victoria Liberating Structures user groups exist to enhance our collective capacity to build confidence and fluency with Liberating Structures facilitation techniques and to mentor each other in a trusting, playful, collaborative environment. Co-founded by Leva Lee and Tracy Roberts, these two user group communities have been practicing Liberating Structures on campuses in the Vancouver Lower Mainland and Victoria, as well as online. If you have any questions about the user groups or have a question about Liberating Structures, contact Leva at llee@bccampus.ca or Tracy at troberts@bccampus.ca.
Facilitating Learning Online (FLO) Enthusiasts – This group of experienced FLO facilitators helps educators improve their ability to facilitate learning online while providing ongoing review and improvements to all FLO curricula.
