The emergent Open Badges ecosystem is poised to level up. It’s time to reconnect learning to the real world by recognizing achievements, competencies, and skills wherever and however they are learned.
Thought leaders, early adopters, badge system supporters and new potential partners are gathering in Silicon Valley in February 2014 to accelerate the scale and spread of Open Badges from a series of successful pilot projects into a mainstream movement capable of widespread adoption.
Over two days, summit participants will take part in:
- Demonstrations of exemplary projects by early adopters of Open Badges
- Plenary conversations about moving Open Badges from the edges of innovation to the center of learning
- Working groups to design Open Badges projects for higher education, workforce training, professional development, communities and more
The event will bring together leaders in the Connected Learning movement, K-12, higher education, and youth programming, employers and talent professionals, policymakers, and technology innovators.
Attendees will work together to take on cross-cutting issues and make commitments to advance Connected Learning and build a shared vision for Open Badges.
The Open Badges Summit to Reconnect Learning is hosted by The Sprout Fund, supported by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and sponsored by the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI). Additional event partners include Mozilla, HASTAC, Digital Promise, and NestGSV.
Michelle Glubke from BCcampus is attending and meeting with Creative Commons and WCET representatives.
