This one-week micro-course will introduce the theory and practice of hybrid and HyFlex learning. Through asynchronous discussions, with opportunities for synchronous meetings with peers, participants will explore the theory and practice of hybrid and HyFlex learning and develop a plan or resource for use in a hybrid or HyFlex teaching situation. You can expect to spend six to nine hours of participation over the week.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to…
- Describe principles of hybrid and HyFlex learning.
- Discuss how to apply hybrid and HyFlex approaches in their specific contexts.
- Create a resource or instructional plan for hybrid or HyFlex learning appropriate to its context.

Your facilitator for this course is Dr. Matthew Stranach, coordinator of Educational Technologies at Thompson Rivers University’s Centre for Learning Technology and Innovations. Originally from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Matt has more than 15 years’ experience as an educator in a wide range of settings and contexts. He holds a doctor of education specializing in educational technology from the University of Calgary Werklund School of Education.
