*Note: This session has passed. Please view the recordings below.

We know that giving students choice fosters engagement and equity, but how much is too much choice? In this session, you’ll “Choose Your Own Adventure” and explore student choice, student agency, and how to facilitate meaningful choice without adding to your workload. Your facilitator for this session will be Arley Cruthers. Arley teaches Applied Communications at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, where she also serves as the Open Education Teaching Fellow. She’s passionate about open pedagogy and open education, and her pedagogy is rooted in her background as a Paralympian, wheelchair basketball coach, novelist, and communications and marketing manager. She recently authored the open educational resources (OER) textbook Business Writing For Everyone: An Inclusive Guide to Writing in the Workplace. For her work in inclusive, process-based approaches to open education, she received an Excellence in Open Education award from BCcampus and has been a guest on several teaching podcasts. Arley has an MFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
