Hosted by University of British Columbia – Okanagan, this virtual panel and roundtable discussion identifies ways to incorporate discipline-based knowledge-building exercises on academic integrity in post-secondary classrooms.
The panelists deliberate on the concept of learning culture and how to create teachable moments for student engagement.
The event highlights the impact of developing OERs and uses the case of a UBC Aspire (ALT-2040) Learning Transformations project, Discipline-based Approaches to Academic Integrity, to contextualize the discussion. The scholar-practitioners will contextualize ways to:
- Address questions about accessibility and equity and how these considerations contribute to building cultures of academic integrity;
- Focus on intellectual integrity in the context of creative writing;
- Discuss ownership, voice and identity in academic writing as important conversation starters on academic integrity; and
- Utilize an OER to support classroom discussion on academic integrity
The panel discussion will be followed by a roundtable Q&A with student representatives about the usefulness of discussing academic integrity using the OER.
