UBC Okanagan recently launched a website to support curriculum mapping, analysis, and planning at the course and program levels, UBC Curriculum MAP. This website was closely inspired and informed by Curriculum Links (University of Calgary) and customized to meet UBC’s needs and priorities. However, anybody with an email address can use the site and/or its open source software for their own institution.
During this demo, you will hear from two Curriculum MAP team members: a faculty member who uses this tool for course and program planning, and a quality-assurance practitioner who uses it to support program reviews and program proposals.

- Instructors looking to ideate or evaluate a course from a backward design and constructive alignment perspective
- Program coordinators/leads looking to ideate/evaluate a program based on curriculum mapping
- Quality-assurance practitioners looking to support instructors/faculty members with curriculum mapping for evaluation or analysis
- Teaching and learning professionals looking to support their teams through the use of technology
By the end of this session, attendees will have a good understanding of this tool and its applications in their own context.
Facilitators
Laura Prada (she/her) has worked in higher education for 12+ years in student services and teaching and learning. She currently supports academic programs and reviews as part of the Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic at UBC Okanagan. Her psychology and education degrees, as well as her university teaching certificate, inform her practices. She works closely with other units to provide holistic support to academic units and is passionate about sharing and collaborating with others for best results and efficiencies.
Dr. Anita Chaudhuri (she/her) is an assistant professor of teaching in the Department of English and Cultural Studies at UBC Okanagan. Her research interest and publications are in the areas of identity construction of language learners, their development in writing and communication, and how pedagogical practices such as writing across curriculum and culturally sustaining pedagogy impact curriculum development. Dr. Chaudhuri is part of the project development team for UBC’s Curriculum MAP and Syllabus Generator tool, which facilitates effective alignment of course and program learning outcomes to institutional strategies. By mapping course objectives, teaching and learning activities, and assessment practices using Curriculum MAP, users can engage in discussions on curriculum planning and review. She also works on a funded project that responds to the critical need for materials on academic integrity that are undergraduate-student focused, are openly accessible, and support classroom discussion on this ethical concern in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
