Reducing Student Stress – Tips & Tricks for Students with Online Learning

During COVID-19, we are all working and learning online, for our courses—assignments and tests. The pivot to online has been stressful for students, many already experiencing anxiety and stress from the pressures from their studies. COVID-19 has increased student stress making studying at home challenging with many students not having done online learning. In this webinar, we’ll discuss easy to implement ideas for how to make this transition more easeful and satisfying in this new learning environment. You’ll hear both practical tips and perspectives on how to make your time online learning less stressful and more productive.

Facilitators:

Ross McKerlich is an online learning professional who has both taught online and learned online. As such, he is familiar with the challenges and opportunities from both perspectives. He has a Masters in Education degree in Distance Education from Athabasca University and is currently working with the BCcampus team as an Open Education Advisor & Regional Representative for the interior region.

Brenna Clarke Gray (MA Carleton, Ph.D. New Brunswick) is a literature scholar by training, a comics scholar by practice, and an educational technologist by trade. Her research interests include open pedagogies and ethical approaches to educational technologies. She is the Coordinator, Educational Technologies at Thompson Rivers University, and is currently at work tracing the history and imagining the future of open tenure processes.
