Collaboration Across the B.C. Post-Secondary System
Here are some communities and networks BCcampus works with in B.C
British Columbia Teaching & Learning Council (BCTLC)
The BCTLC is made up of leaders, usually at the director level, in teaching, learning, and technology from all publicly funded post-secondary institutions in B.C.
The BCTLC provides leadership and shares information on issues, challenges, and direction regarding teaching, learning technologies, scholarly practice, student learning, and related topics. Working with BCcampus, the BCTLC supports program development for professional learning events for educators and administers the West Coast Teaching Excellence Awards.
Educational Technology Users Group (ETUG)
The ETUG is an eclectic and friendly group of educational technology and learning design professionals who work with BCcampus to deliver workshops and conferences to advance teaching and learning through technology in B.C. higher education.
Open Educational Technology Collaborative (OpenETC)
The OpenETC provides open educational technologies and open infrastructure for the post-secondary sector of B.C. This generous group operates through a concept of “contributions, not contracts” — participating institutions share what they can to keep things going for all. If you value alternatives to commercial, close-sourced educational technologies, you will want to check out the OpenETC.
Supported technologies:
- WordPress – A powerful open-source content management system and more. OpenETC has developed a one-click installation service to help students quickly set up and start designing their own secure WordPress instance.
- Mattermost – An advantageous and accessible open-source alternative to online communication tools like Slack or Microsoft Team
BC Open Education Librarians
The BC Open Education Librarians is a group of post-secondary librarians and educators who meet and share ideas, tools, and strategies on open educational resource projects in support of faculty. In existence since 2013, the group meets online monthly with the coordination and assistance of BCcampus.
