When You’re Ready: Learning + Teaching Events at BCcampus

Coming into fall, we’ve prepared a slate of low-barrier, HyFlex learning experiences for educators in B.C. post-secondary to join synchronously or to download and listen when the time is right for you.

We are hearing that a huge concern for many faculty, staff, and students in post-secondary institutions across B.C. is that you’re tired. Fatigue and burnout are real, and planning for the future can feel overwhelming. We know concerns about the pandemic are ongoing. Our focus has been to design offerings that invite you to pick and choose from topics to support your work in designing and teaching courses that hopefully help lighten that load. 

“Right now, we’re concentrating on keeping barriers to access low for the teaching and learning topics identified as most critical,” said Tracy Roberts, director of Teaching + Learning at BCcampus. “We have fantastic research projects in the works, including a speaker series that runs from October through December, brilliant books to review together in the online book club, a digital literacy program designed by local educators, and learning events and activities to bring us together — online for now — to learn with and from each other.” 

Digital Literacy

While still in its infancy, we’re very excited to be working on a digital literacy program informed by educators across B.C. This will be a prominent part of our plans for the immediate future, with a goal of increasing the digital knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to participate in the digital society, specifically in post-secondary communities. We’ve assembled a phenomenal collection of learning and teaching events and activities to carry us into the spring, and while we’d love to see you at some — or all — of the events, we’ve designed them to make it as easy as possible for you to join in whatever capacity you can. If you’re up for it, you can take part in an upcoming event and learn with us in real time, or you can watch the recording afterward whenever you have the capacity to enjoy it. If you sign up for an event, and on the day of, you find you “just can’t,” we’ll understand. Your mental health is the most important thing, now and forever, and when you’re ready — if you’re ready — to attend something with us, we’ll be here for you.
